Macoser, Inc. announces the addition of Torreda Woodturning Machinery and Systems to the Macoser product line. Torreda and Macoser combine to offer our clients almost 100 years of woodturning experience.
Torreda lathes range from manual to hopper fed CNC utilizing Alpha Cam software available in lengths up to 4 meters. Lathe designs include manual, hydraulic copy, NC controlled copy, and CNC. The Torreda line offers small variety lathes, lathes for plate and bowl turning, lathes for roping & fluting only, and lathes for conventional turning up to 13’ columns. Roping & fluting capacity is available on most Torreda models making them one of the most versatile and productive lathes available.
Torreda also offers multiple spindle sanders, boring machines, and sharpeners to support the lathes.
Manutor Line
The Manutor line is made up of heavy duty manual lathes. Available in sizes ranging from 39 to 63 inches, the Manutor can be turn up to an 11.8” part and is available with a number of options including a steady rest and inverter for variable spindle speeds.
Metor Line 1600 & 2000 mm Standard
The Metor line is designed for versatility and utility in an economical lathe. The Metor is offered in 3 models, the Universal, Universal Plus, and Metor CNC.
Metor Universal Copy Lathe
Available in sizes ranging from 39 to 78 inches with turning capacity up to 9.8 inches, the standard configuration includes a hydraulic copier, heavy duty steady rest, pre-rounding tool, centering kit, and two manual tenoning tools.
Available options include a second copier, semi-automatic hydraulic tenoning tools, roping & fluting capability, hydraulic frontal carriage for bowl turning, automatic centering attachment, variable speed inverter controlled spindle, as well as a number of specialty items for specific applications.
Metor Universal Plus Copy Lathe
The Metor Universal Plus shares many of the same features as the Metor Universal but utilizes NC controls to allow for programming of the machine functions. Ball and screw is substituted for the carriage hydraulic cylinder ensuring increased precision and repeatability. The NC controller permits up to 8 separate steps in the turning/milling process of each piece. The operator turns a given part adjusting the speeds of travel as required and then saves via the controller the program he completed. Once done, the next user merely loads the part and the Universal Plus repeats the program.
When employing the roping and fluting attachment, indexing becomes automatic as opposed to manual with different programmed machining possible on various sections of the same turning.
Metor CNC
Like the Metor Universal and Metor Plus, the Metor CNC is designed for versatility and economy and includes items like a steady rests, tenoning tools, pre-rounding tools, ball & screw for the travel, etc. All templates or sample parts are eliminated and electronic drawings are used to guide the copiers. Most auto-cad files can be imported and converted for use by the Metor CNC. Alpha Cam software is utilized providing one of the most powerful auto-cad systems commercially available today. Alpha Cam even has the capability to scribe specific designs on your turning.
Optional items include programmable tenoning tools, independently controlled second copier, roping & fluting, pneumatic centering device for quick loading, as well as accessories available for your specific woodturning needs.
Palpator Line 1600 & 2000 mm Standard
The Palpator line is a heavier, larger lathe than the Metor and can be configured to accommodate lengths up to 4 meters (over 13’). Like the Metor, the Palpator is available in 3 separate control systems; hydraulic, NC, and CNC.
The Palpator Copy Lathe comes standard with two hydraulic copiers and automatic centering device. The rigid construction can accommodate a number of two-speed semi-automatic hydraulic tenoning tools/back knives (two are standard). In the standard configuration, turning capacity is up to 9.8” in diameter.
The hydraulic Palpator can be equipped with additional hydraulic back knife/tenoning cylinders and increased turning capacity up to 15.5”. Specialty items such as accommodations for turning bent parts, larger steady rests, and roller style steady for use on hydraulic tenoning turrets are offered to meet your specific turning needs.
Palpator Electronic Copy Lathe
Like the Metor NC, the Palpator Electronic utilizes ball and screw carriage positioning as well as NC programming for the work cycle. This machine comes standard with two hydraulic copiers, centering device, two hydraulic tenoning turrets, pre-rounding tool, and steady rest.
The NC controller permits up to 8 separate steps in the turning/milling process of each piece. The operator turns a given part adjusting the speeds of travel as required and then saves via the controller the program he completed. Once done, the next user merely loads the part and the Palpator Electronic repeats the program.
When employing the roping and fluting attachment, indexing becomes automatic as opposed to manual with different types of machining possible on various sections of the same turning.
Optional equipment such as “square” steady rests, turret mounted stabilizers, etc. are available.
Palpator CNC
The Palpator CNC has many features standard: increased diameter capability of 11.8 inches, two hydraulic tenoning/back knife turrets, automatic centering device, two additional ports to accommodate additional hydraulic turrets, Alpha Cam software, pre-rounding tool, and steady rest.
Options available include a pre-rounding turret for larger diameter parts, roping & fluting attachments (up to two can be installed at once), roller type steady actuated by one of the turrets, and more.
Hidropal 1600 & 2000 Standard
The Hidropal line is built on Torreda’s heaviest frame. Hidropal lathes are designed and equipped with an automatic feeder (hopper) where the operator stacks parts into a hopper and the parts are automatically centered, turned, and discharged from the machine. This machine is best suited for high production needs where the hopper becomes a critical tool to minimize loading time and the labor associated with hand loading the parts. The Hidropal is available in hydraulic, NC controlled, and CNC. Like the Palpator, special configurations can be built to accommodate small parts or large columns.
The Hidropal Copy Lathe comes standard with two hydraulic copiers and automatic loader. The rigid construction can accommodate a number of two-speed automatic hydraulic tenoning tools/back knives (two are standard). In the standard configuration, turning capacity is up to 9.8” in diameter.
Hidropal Electronic Copy Lathe

The Hidropal CNC is Torreda’s most advanced and productive lathe. Increased turning capacity of 11.8 inches, multiple turrets, separate copier tool paths, hopper sequencing, roping, fluting, and even design scribing can be programmed via the Alpha-Cam software. The loading process can accommodate round, square, or previously turned parts where value added roping or fluting can modify the turning to suit the customer’s needs.
